Strolling along the north shore of the island the names of several persons can be found carved in the limestone bedrock. Their identity is unknown, but their names are a faint reminder of the people whose lives were touched and inter-twined with this magnificent white stone tower.

West of the tower, and just before the assistant lightkeeper’s house, lays the remains of a limekiln hidden in a stand of cedars. The kiln was built to bake limestone in the production of mortar during the construction of the tower and lightkeeper’s cottage.
